NANOSMAT YOUNG SCIENTISTS LECTURE COMPETITION
First started in 2010 during the 5th NANOSMAT conference in Reims (France), the Young Scientists Lecture Competition has gained popularity and prestige. This competition each year during every NANOSMAT conference. The aim of the Young Scientists Lecture Competition is to provide a friendly atmosphere competition for young scientists working in the fields of nanomaterials, science, engineering, nanotechnology and emerging technologies so they can display their presentation skills.
RULES
The competition is open to anyone who is following a post-graduate course study programme at a recognised university, in any aspect of materials related nanoscience and nanotechnology. The competition is open to young scientists, researchers who are either MSc or PhD students. Further, the maximum age of the student should be 30 years. The student will need to be pre-registered for the conference by paying student fee.
Presentations
Each entrant will give a presentation lasting not more than 15 minutes on a subject of their choice about any aspect of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology. Facilities at the venue will permit PowerPoint presentations.
Questioning
Questioning from the judges (appointed prior to the event) will take place immediately after each presentation. Each judge may ask one/two question(s).
Judges
A panel of at least 3 judges will adjudicate the competition. Judges will be made up of Academics and Industrialists.
Nomination Procedure
The Student’s supervisor/advisor must submit the following items to contact@nanosmat.org by 15 May 2026
- one copy of the abstract that the student wishes to present at the competition
- a recommendation letter supporting the nomination
Late or incomplete applications will not be evaluated
Nature of the Award
There will be three prizes:
Gold –
Silver –
Bronze –
In addition, each recipient will each receive a certificate. Winners will be named and awards presented during the conference banquet.
